I was just wondering if anyone knew of any nice pieces of score music (classical or film music) that they really love, and who'd like to share?

For a start, the main theme to the movie The Piano. It's called "The Heart Asks Pleasure First"

The entire score to Homeward Bound the Incredible Journey by Bruce Broughton. I watched the movie endlessly as a kid, didn't see it for about 10 years, and listening to the score brought me to tears just remembering the movie.

Hmm...I've never paid that much attention to the score of movies except for very notable ones like Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Harry Potter. I will definitely pay attention from now on and bring back some suggestions.

The Scores to Star Wars, HP, and Indiana Jones were all done by John Williams. He's pretty fantastic.
I became addicted to score music after tracking down Bruce Broughton's score to Homeward Bound the Incredible Journey 10 years after the last time i'd watched the movie. I still cried though the finale.
I'm waiting on eBay to get Steve Jablonsky's Transformers score. That was musical brilliance. And Bella's Lullaby by Carter Burwell is also something to be noted.

We just watched Men Who Stare at Goats, a good movie but the music wasn't memorable. We watched Indiana Jones before that and it's still going through my head. Ah John Williams. If I had a couple million I'd hire him to do the anthem for Uantir.

I really enjoy John Williams. I was slightly obsessed with his music as a tween and teen, but now, while I still enjoy it, I like a little more variety. Most of John Williams scores just scream "I WAS WRITTEN BY JOHN WILLIAMS!" He kinda' found what worked for him and stuck with it, and there's nothing wrong with that. Howard Shore is fun, too. I enjoy most of Andrew Lloyd Weber's music. There's someone else, I can't think of his name at the moment, though.

I just went and found Bella's Lullaby. I like the fully orchestrated version, but so far I think that the piano solos I've seen were a little dry, but perhaps that's just because I haven't heard it played well yet.

The other night I was watching the show Dexter. Now I was watching it online and it was having troubles, so I ended up watching the intro a dozen times and it stuck me how well written the score to Dexter actually is. I know it's not a film, it's a TV show, but regardless the music is so perfect for the show. I'm not sure every score is perfect by virtue of sounding good, what makes a lot of scores memorable is that they fit the movie. That's where John William's genius lies, because his themes and the movie and all the characters click very well.
And in that way I thought the theme to Dexter belongs in this list, because the tune is just so dark, subtle, sinister and evil...just like Dexter.

I just watched the movie 'Moon' which is a very good movie, but I also loved the score. It's subtle, and lonely (which is the purpose and fits the movie) with a hint of crazy from those odd chords. The score is titled 'Welcome to Lunar Industries' and here's a recording for those who haven't seen the film: Welcome to Lunar Industries by Clint Mansell from Moon

That was a very interesting piece to listen to - Almost hypnotic - I kept expecting it to burst into something more hectic, but it didn't... Weird, but interesting.

I recommend the soundtrack to "The Snowman" by Howard Blake.

The music from the most recent adaptation of Pride and Prejudice (with Keira Knightly)
I don't know why, but I have a real thing for piano music.

It reminds me of a Viola - Piano concerto that was on the radio while I was driving around this morning. It was a romantic peace, so the fact it came from about the same era might be a reason.

The scores from Beowulf (sweeping, grand, kinda LOTR-esque) and The Great Esacape
