The flag looks utterly awesome!!!
But, now some sad news... I have to forgo the trip. My mum has been dealing with a lot lately, and has just had a full mental breakdown. I'm now her full time carer - i could maybe get a day or two away, but a whole week is just too much. Maybe i can organise it for some other time or something... now just isn't going to work. So a big thank you for being willing to take me on while in the US, but i'm sorry that it's all fallen into a heap.

Just remember for when you come next time it might not cost as much if you don't have to leave the OC area because you don't have to hire a hotel when you're with us.

It'll certainly cut a number of my expenses. I think i was looking at $900 AUD to stay in Disneyland for 4 days. and it was going to cost me $350 for 2 nights over in Atlanta. I'll look into retaking the trip some time next year. Lots of things are going on - I'll do an update post.

I just made beef jerky!
As many of you may not know my favorite food, I consider it a food group of its own, is jerky. I had five pounds of stew meat in the freezer I had no idea what to do with, I wasn't in the mood for stew, so I cut some of the cubes up into slices and dried it in the oven according to online recipes. Despite the marinade having been a bit to vinegary, this stuff is fantastic and not six thousand an ounce! Yeehaw!

Mmm, beef jerky, truly an ambrosia in itself. My local grocer used to stock a certain kind made by a certain company out in California, and it was beyond delicious, but alas, it vanished from their aisles several years ago.

If I get good at this I'll package and distribute it.

I know we were talking about this before, doing a skype conference call thing so everyone can say hi to everyone else. Equipment and coordination were the two big issues.
Well I'm planning to do a holiday conference call inter-micronationally. Depending on how loopy the party gets there might even be caroling and such. My plan to solve the global coordination problem is to make it a multi-hour event over the course of two days in such a way that it gets all time zones involved (and I have a coffee maker.) This is in the infancy stages and I will be working on it more after I get a mic and stuff today.
Any advice, suggestions or anything like that on how to make this run more smoothly and such would be appreciated. Once I get a solid framework I'm going to post the dates and times on MCS.

=D That sounds awesome!
I've been knitting lately. I was planning on knitting a lot of my Christmas presents, but alas I am too slow and probably won't finish everything I was thinking to do. *sigh* I did finish one pair of fingerless mitts (wrist warmers), but I was hoping to do about 5 pairs before Christmas! D= I really need to finish at least one more pair before Christmas (ASAP!) because I have to mail them to my friend. I don't really hold out any hope for them arriving before X-mas even if I finish them beforehand. That's what I get for planning too much, I suppose. =p

Her Majesty crafts a number of her holiday gifts. It's become a trademark of hers. I like made gifts better than bought ones. Sure there are things I really want from the store, but I can go buy those or you can buy them for me wherever you'd like. But a personally knitted mitt is priceless.

I think so, too. =D I changed the one pair of mitts to a scarf to speed things up... And I'm halfway done with a pair of mitts for my best friend's b-day (which is tomorrow!). I won't be able to finish them in time, but I'm going to hang out with her all day after work today and then all day tomorrow, so I think I'll give her the finished mitt and work on the other one while we watch movies.

I'm currently crocheting an afghan for a pair of friends' housewarming. I've really lost steam on it since I started, but it'll get finished someday.

I'm currently trying to downsize my book collection for the move. But more importantly is downsizing everything else. and my head feels like it's going to explode because we might be moving as early as April this year.
