Having people show up does seem like an important condition for a successful talk-a-thon. I've got Skype and a microphone, so I'm happy to participate.
As far as my current projects, I am a little under two months into a new job in the finance sector, and they've already got me heading a project that's going to have a direct impact on actual people (as opposed to my standard projects, which consist mostly of back-room analysis, since I am, you know, an analyst). I'm pretty psyched.

That's cool. Are you working as part of a team, or is this an independent project?

I've got a team, which is also pretty sweet. And apparently this project came down to me from the CEO through a million layers of management, which means the whole thing is getting fast-tracked. Not bad for two months in.

Congratulations! I was just volunteered to work ticket checker guy at the club door at a Chief's game. It was boring, but fun.

Sorry for the inactivity, I just started a new job and have not been on a computer very often. As far as a talkathon, I'm available after 3pm Eastern time on weekdays and after 4 pm on Saturdays. I can't make any guarantees for Sundays.
I'm really excited b/c I'm going to a Coheed concert in Milwaukee in a two and a half weeks!

I'd also like to apologize for my dissapearance - had no internet for 5 weeks, and when I got it back, I'd forgotten most of my logins and passwords, but i found the book that has all of them in it, and here I am! Yay for new jobs! Good work people, and best of luck! Ness, I hope you have fun at the concert The only current project i'm a part of is Project Cyclone AKA sorting out and cleaning the house. There are still boxes EVERYWHERE!

Good to see everyone again! I had faith everyone would make it back eventually. I've spent most of the recession (as it were) thinking and scheming and planning. I've got most of it in an essay that I intend to publish in the newsletter just as soon as I finish writing it. I have to make sure the words make sense to others as well as myself. Of course I will publish it here first, see what everyone thinks, before making any real changes and then broadcasting that.
A few teasers, the titles will change a bit, and there will be more of them. Also the hierarchy will become more influential and less hierarchical.
Another big push of mine is to work with Bjorn to turn the website from something that, honestly, just exists, to something that's interesting. I also want to see if I can pull off moving the forums to the website, though I'm pretty happy with proboards as a forum host.
Nessa, have fun at the concert! And Mira, don't worry, though I've technically finished unpacking I still have a few boxes lying around. You can still catch up!

Current projects:
Bushfire proofing the property. This basically consists of lots of gardening and pruning.
Bushfire proofing the house. There's no point having the yard devoid of excess fuel if there are 20 or so spray cans full of laundry stain remover, fly spray, window cleaner, etc, waiting to blow up when the fire comes through.
Still more unpacking. There aren't as many boxes, but there are a lot.
Cataloguing my books, CDs and DVDs - in case the house burns down. I'm also looking at shipping them down into town, so if the house burns, I don't lose everything.
Other then the really pressing ones, there's getting a new side piece for my bed so I can go back to sleeping somewhere that isn't on a matress on the floor, and more book cases for the numerous books.

Thanks to Her Majesty's gift of a Home Depot gift card I'll be spending much of my free time setting up the workshop in the basement.
Our five hour drive to and from Iowa reminded me how much I need to flesh out the metadata on my music collection. When six songs go by that are Unknown songs by Unknown artists off an Unknown album, I've been slacking.
Mira, they make fireproof safes, which means you never have to worry about them being stolen either, and you don't have to go to town to access your music.

5 hour drive!?! that's a long drive!
I don't think there's one big enough/cheap enough/enough space in the house for a fire proof safe, to be honest. I've looked at the fire bunkers, but I don't own the property, therefore I can't make any alterations.

Well...I guess so. I frequently spend an eight hour shift in the drivers seat of a patrol vehicle, so a five hour drive where I actually see other things besides the same circle and get someone to talk to is rather pleasant.
Cost is, indeed, a factor. But if you're just keeping CDs in there I am slightly concerned if you have so many you can't fit them in a standard safe. Any personal documents you can just carve into stone slabs in the yard*.
Also a rather monumental project is underway. I'll post here, and an announcement about it will also be up on Facebook, so make sure to check it out.
*Sarcasm.

I need to knit some fingerless gloves for a friend as a late b-day/Christmas present. 1 glove down, 1 to go. =P
I NEED to clean my room. I rearranged it a couple of weeks ago but there is stuff everywhere. I don't know what to do with it all. My closet does not accommodate my belongings very well. It's probably a good sign that I need to get rid of some stuff. *sigh* I should do it while I'm between jobs.
Another knitting project: Keywork scarves for myself and my fellow Coheed and Cambria fans! =) I need to design them and get them knitted up before winter is over with. XD

So here it is! The monumental project: Her Majesty and I are going to have a child! We've got quite a bit to plan with the first 'native born' Uantirian on its way.
