Greetings!
I have been absent from our great nation as of late. The reason for this is my brother's recent health problems. My brother was taken to the emergency room for tests on April 9th, and was diagnosed with kidney failure on April 10th. His kidneys have been damaged to the point where the doctors cannot even do a biopsy to discover the cause of the damage. It appears to be a genetic condition. All they know for sure is that the damage has occurred gradually, so my brother's body has adapted to the reduced kidney functions and lower blood flow. His kidneys were no longer telling his body to produce new red blood cells, hence his hemoglobin levels were dangerously low. The hospital admitted my brother and performed a blood transfusion to stabalize him, and he now has to have dialysis performed 3 times a week. He will need a new kidney. I cannot donate due to my having ulcerative colitis. My twin sister is going to be tested for compatability soon. We have a few other family members who are willing to get tested if my sister is not compatible. For now we're just hoping my brother will remain stable and relatively healthy until a suitable donor can be found.
