It's something that everyone knows about. It seems to be everywhere. And everyone goes into a near panic the moment they think someone in the same room as them may have it.
So here are the facts:
Influenza (statistics gathered covering all the flu viruses, not just specific ones) Kills about 50,000 people world wide EVERY YEAR. Several hundred million people catch it every year.
Good quality sleep and food go a long way in keeping your immune system in ship shape order, which in turn fights the virus.
Vaccines are useless against the virus - the flu virus mutates several times each flu season, leaving you open to nearly 100 new strains by the time the lastest vaccine has been created, tested and approved.
Stress is also a good immune system killer. Don't buy into any of the media hype - Stay happy, healthy, and rested and your chances of catching it are greatly reduced.
Also, one final note - Stay away from Hospitals unless you must go in there. I went in needing treatment for elctrocution, i was only there for 2 1/2 hours, and i came out with a particularly nasty flu virus (probably the supposed swine flu, as i walked past the swine flu clinic on the way in.) I'm still sick and i feel horrible.

Hospitals are bad for that kind of thing. You go in with one thing and come out with a hell of a lot more. I try to avoid them, even for visiting.. and I hardly ever touch anything, if it can be helped.. even those soap things they've now put in to try and help cleanliness.. I feel cleaner not touching it.
But seriously.. hospitals, stay out of them unless its serious. Of course, electric shocks are serious enough.. I hope you're ok and feel better soon!
