Title: Ella Enchanted Author: Gail Carson Levine Year Published: 1997 Publisher: Harper Collins
Plot Summary: When Ella of Frell was born she was given the "gift" of obediance. With the support of her mother and fairy godmother Lucinda, she tries to make it through each day without getting into too much trouble, but when her mother dies, her father bankrupts them, and she meets Hattie, Olive and their Mother, Dame Olga and Hattie orders Ella around and Ella must exactly what she's told, things take a frightening turn.
Why I recommend the book: I bought it off ebay on a whim, and so far, i've only picked it up twice, but it's so easy to read, it practically reads it itself! I didn't even know the book existed till a week ago, but now i'm 2/3 through it, and i'm loving it - there's much more detail to the characters, and there are a lot of little bits of information that weren't important, but made sense in the continuing plot of the book. if you liked the movie, then find yourself a copy and have a read.

I saw the movie first, and got a little addicted to it. I remember watching it a few times a day for weeks. Still have it and would watch it twice today if I didn't have anything else to do. For that reason I was a little worried that the book would ruin the movie, in the way that many books I've read make poor movies.
I loved the book and finished it in a day or so. I still like the movie better, but that's because of Anne Hathaway. I give the book five roars.
