So, considering the recent developments, I thought a thread on health matters relating to pregnancy is in order. Instead of expecting Mira to dump a dissertation on homeopathic and holistic practices for a successful pregnancy and healthy child, I thought I'd start with a few questions and we'll work from there as I have more questions / concerns, or anyone has advice they'd be interested in sharing. Of course we have our modern health advice from the OB, but that's just one side of the story.
The big thing currently is morning sickness, which even in the 13th week Her Majesty has not shaken. The OB prescribed B-6 supplement twice daily and a pregnancy specific multi-vitamin once a day. The B-6 was supposed to help with the nausea, which it very well may be doing, but she still dashes to the bathroom every day or so and feels queasy frequently.
Her other most nagging symptom lately is fatigue. She's been having better days lately, but she genuinely has no energy to do anything. It's very obvious she's not playing the 'I'm pregnant I get to sit on the couch for a year' card either, not getting anything done is distressing her. She feels like a useless lump.

I haven't actually looked into pregnancy (whoo, I get a chance now!) but I know that there are several things for Rachel to think about or look out for:
Cravings. If she wants it, make sure she eats it. I know of a woman who ate chalk due to a lack of calcium. The body normally kicks off a craving in order to get a mineral or nutrient it's deficient in.
Vaccines. This will probably go against doctors orders, but avoid vaccines, particularly flu. There have been a scarily high amount of woman experiancing misscarriages.
Nausea. Oh, this is a fun one. Recipe: equal parts of chamomile, ginger and peppermint. one teaspoon in an infuser, add hot water.
Fatigue. Comfrey and dandelion (in a tea) may help. Some gentle exercise might be needed. I'd recommend some type of maternity yoga or swimming (or both)
Keeping herself busy may help with the feeling useless. There are tonnes of things she can do in the comfort of the house - like knitting, sewing, planning baby's room, reading up on what foods to introduce and when. One thing for her to do when she's out - start collecting picture books for baby's library.
Hope this helps.
