This is a difficult question. If asked ‘What is Hockey?” a rather uniform answer can be expected. That is not the case with micro-nations. Everyone has a different answer. They range from separatist nation-states to successionist groups to simulationist countries to 13 year olds who don’t want to clean their rooms. For this reason, this primer cannot accurately answer that question. What it will explain is ‘What does micro-nations mean in regards to Uantir?’ The answer is that a micro-nation is the hobby of forming simulated nations. Being part of Uantir can accurately be referred to as ‘playing the game.’ Though we may create flags and other physical paraphernalia (honestly, though dorky, it’s fun!) there are no machinations towards true sovereignty… as entertaining as that would be. Uantir is less about independence in the real world and more about entertainment. It’s a fantasy that allows us to toy around with those ‘What if’ and ‘If I were…I would…’ musings. It’s a community of our own design that we could not manifest in the ‘real world.’ That is the soul of what we are; creating a literary economy, defining a community and building something bigger than ourselves.
