The tradition of dueling is alive and kicking in Uantir…with some slight evolutions. A duel does not start spur of the moment on the street; that would be more commonly known as a fight. There are a number of rules that govern duels, mostly to keep them fair. But this is not a manual on dueling, just an overview of what and why. A duel is a contest of skill between two individuals, to resolve a dispute or for sport. Duels may be lethal or non-lethal, though lethal duels are rare and closely supervised. All duels are consensual, so the misconception that bloodthirsty sociopaths can slake a murderous lust by having an easily impugned honor is unfounded. Duels are traditionally hand to hand, armed or close quarters small arms combat. Unarmed duels resemble boxing / bare-knuckle fighting. Non-lethal armed duels use wooden weapons or paintball / air-soft ammunition. A duel is not restricted only to combat; they can be any contest of skill from spitballs, to rhyming to horseshoes. Official duels legally resolve conflict with the authority of civil court. Unofficial duels are for sport or personal resolution.
