A few things to keep in mind when naming your land; first the nomenclature is not required, but encouraged. When your land is new and hasn’t been written about much, the nomenclature is an instant indication of flavor. How you use the nomenclature is not set in stone. The Keep of Aldfield, Aldfield Keep and Keepaldfield are all acceptable uses of the nomenclature. Remember though, that as your land expands, the nomenclature has the opportunity to change. The above example could become the Shire of Aldfield, Aldfield Shire or Shirealfield. Keeping the old nomenclature is fine as well, such as the Shire of Alfield Keep. It’s up to you. Finally, avoid ‘ville,’ ‘town,’ and ‘land’ unless you do like the sound of the Aldfieldville Expanse. As your lands expands there will be room for cities and villes and towns to name. Below are examples and guides, but not the only options. Tier One Lands: Town, Keep, Manor, Hold Tier Two Lands: Barony, Canton, Stretch Tier Three Lands: County, Territory Tier Four Lands: Principality, Expanse Tier Five Lands: Kingdom
