I'm MellowStar. I've had an interest in micronations for a few years now, but only just discovered the world of virtual micronations. I am very excited to be joining all of you on here. I have some questions I would like to ask all the existing members. Why did you join a virtual micronation? Is Uantir the first/only micronation you're a part of? Why did you choose Uantir/what do you like most about Uantir? Any advice for a newbie? Thank you all, and have a great day.

First, pardon the novel. Second, as the founder I cannot exactly answer those questions directly, but I can answer them from a different perspective.
I created this virtual nation originally for fun. Our friend Colum McKenna (as you may know if you’ve read anything about Licentia, Soarsa or Veritalia) was doing one too and it became a friendly competition among a group of friends. After that period ended and Colum left, most of the initial interest in the game was done and I was down to just a few core people I realized how much I enjoyed the role play. It was still fun, even after that time and the atrophy of interest from others, thinking out how I'd do things if I had the power and I found some amazing friends that I wouldn't trade in for the world. Life, as it so often does, means that not all of them are active here as they used to be. Most have moved on and I hardly see them anymore, but they are the kind of people that I can pick up a conversation with as if no time has gone by. I've never met any of these people, and I can honestly say they are some of my best friends. Even if they never check the boards again we’re friend on Facebook and I care more about their updates than I do about old high school friends. As always, the political simulation is fun and I enjoy my time here as well as in the international sectors on the Hub, but I keep Uantir alive mostly because I'd hate to see people like Mira, Nessa, Gelare and the others go.
My biggest advice for a newbie is to jump in with both feet.It is only what you put into it. There are no developers, no patches or new editions. It’s just us, and the more we participate, the more there is for us to do. Micronationalism is a cerebral activity that doing it anything but all you can is just being a spectator. I can tell you there's not always the time to put as much effort into it as I'd like, but that doesn’t mean I stop thinking about it, brainstorming or anything. I love the freedom that such an open form of entertainment allows - especially here in Uantir.
I've designed it so that no one is really subjugated by anyone (even the King!) there's no one to block you, hold you down or let a lot of the ego get in the way that tends to happen in so many living history / role play / fantasy organizations (real and virtual!) Again, I cannot say that about all virtual nations (geofiction states, simulationist micronations - whatever) where there are elections for people and you have to be part of the club to play the game. I hate that crap. I made a point of restructuring Uantir so that though there are higher titles and such, they are a reflection of dedication not rank or hierarchy. Again, along you can only get what you bring to the table, but I for one am always on point to make what you get back from it exponentially better than what you initially brought. It happened with me and what I’ve done here, I could never fathom making true friends and having a lifelong place to escape to that isn’t pre-planned by a board and committee’s decision on how the game should run in the next edition.

My advise: participate! Post to any thing and everything. Ask questions, start new threads, revive old ones. And, of course, enjoy yourself!

Sicne our resounding response was 'Just do it!' I've decided to take some of the old threads that sort of drifted off (not ones that had definate resolutions) and 'bump' them with either a simple post or just a bump. That way they'll show up as 'with new posts' when you folks hit the board again, and you'll have an idea of what are resolved threads and which are worth returning to.
