Our Kingdom needs a motto. It doesn't have one. I've been going through the mottos of other places, and here are some I like. Please share your ideas. Andorra: Virtus, Unita, Fortior (Latin, Virtue united is stronger) New South Wales: Orta recens quam pura nites (Latin, Newly risen, how brightly you shine) Queensland: Audax at fidelis (Latin, Bold but faithful) Ontario: Ut incepit fidelis sic permanet (Latin, Loyal she began, loyal she remains) Czech Republic: Pravda vítězí! (Czech, Truth prevails!) East Timor: Honra, pátria e povo (Portuguese, Honour, homeland and people) Luxembourg: Mir wëlle bleiwe wat mir sinn (Luxembourgish, We wish to remain what we are) Saint Kitts and Nevis: Country Above Self Solomon Islands: To lead is to serve Catalonia: Som i serem (Catalan, We are and we will keep on being) Trinidad and Tobago: Together we aspire, together we achieve Gibraltar: Nulli expugnabilis hosti (Latin, Conquerable by no enemy) Montserrat: Each Endeavouring, All Achieving Saint Helena: Loyal and Unshakeable South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands: Leo Terram Propriam Protegat (Latin, Let the lion protect its own land) Alabama Audemus jura nostra defendere (Latin, We Dare Defend Our Rights) Missouri Salus populi suprema lex esto (Latin, The Welfare of the People is the Highest Law) New York Excelsior (Latin, Ever Upward!) Cojedes: Ad Sum (Latin, I am here)

I like, Together we aspire, together we achieve. That is the one I suggest.

That one is nice, though the word aspire reminds me of the word perspire which makes me wrinkle my nose too much.
The Queen likes Excelsior (Ever Upward.)
I've yet to come to a decision on which I like best. Excelsior, being one word, lends itself to a good war cry / victory yell / moral uplifting chant etc. etc. which is an extreme benefit. But I am also verbose, and have a pension for long and rediculously wordy phrases. I want to hear what the rest of population has to say before making my final comments.

I really like Ut incepit fidelis sic permanet (Latin, Loyal she began, loyal she remains). Because it is loyalty that is the foundation for unity.

I didn't realize that I was signed in, but I still say that Ut incepit fidelis sic permanet is my favorite. I am like His Majesty and having a pension for long and wordy phrases and would like to thank him for the opporunity to choose.

I also like Ut incepit fidelis sic permanet. Though Excelsior does make a good war cry. Quite the conundrum. Could one not be our Nation's motto and the other our war cry?

Some more food for thought, you realise that we don't have to blatantly steal from this list. These are simply ones that sounded nice and could also be used as a platform to create our own.
Also, the crest of Uantir, which I'm currently turning into a digital format somehow, is of a dragon winged lion and His Majesty the King's name means lion.

This a good idea. I had considered it in passing, but it is a good idea. Our military force could have a motto of its own. Goodness knows I'm completely sick of hearing "Semper Fi". I like that idea. Perhaps we should adopt Excelsior as our military motto.
Otherwise, I do think that I'm all for Leo Terram Propriam Protegat ( Let the lion protect its own land) because our king is so named, and the crest of Uantir is the winged lion.
I do, however, very much like the loyalty based mottos, which is why I put them there. I believe our nation is one built on loyalty, integrity and honour, and I ever strive to keep building with those blocks.

I have to agree that having both a warcry and a motto is a wonderful idea.
Again, I have to stress that I do think it would be in our best interest to design one of our own using the frameworks set down by the ones Her Majesty the Queen presented in her origional post.
The lion does sing of the King and Country, but the honour and the loyalty of the people is where our strength lies. Perhaps combining the two ideas.

I agree with the King and Queen on this one. If there are 2 mottos, then we have more of a choice. # Cheers for the King and Queen!!!

How about something along the lines of:
[Loyalty is the greatest guard] or [Loyalty is the greatest guard against deception]?
I will continue to think on a battlecry.

Salus populi suprema lex esto (Latin, The Welfare of the People is the Highest Law) is probably the one which i like best. Are we going to have separate mottos for each separate state?

There are no states, but the Principalities, Counties and Baronies can have their own mottos if they so please.
