Hey there students, I hope you've all been having a good December. As you may have noticed, I've been largely absent recently, due first to contracting what I will call the Martian Death Flu, and due next to all the work I had to catch up on. I'm not actually fully back yet, since I still have a lot of work ahead of me, but I wanted to see if there was any interest in me posting a paper I just finished writing on bioethics. It's rather denser than my lecture on Libertarianism most of you have read, and is not, I'm afraid, nearly as entertaining (it's meant for a more official venue), but if any of you have any interest in the shortcomings of actual choice models of health care rationing (including the current proposals favored by many Republicans for Health Savings Accounts) or cost-effectiveness analysis-based models of health care rationing, let me know and I'll post the paper here in the Academy. Double spaced, it's one page of intro and conclusion, four and a half pages of actual choice stuff, seven and a half pages of cost-effectiveness analysis stuff, and two pages of somewhat tongue-in-cheek bibliography. (My eighth citation is, "That was a joke. Ha ha.")
So, it's good to see you all again, and if you want to read some bioethics, let me know. And oh yeah, happy holidays.

Yes please!! There's no harm in expanding ones boundaries. I like learning, I find it interesting.

I am very interested in reading your paper. Please post it. This is an area in which I fear many people are ignorant, including myself.

Definately post it. I didn't really follow the last discussion but bioethics is something I would love to read up on

I'm glad that there's interest, and I'll definitely post it, but since the paper has an official purpose to serve first, I think it's probably a good idea to wait until that's all concluded. I should be able to post it sometime next week, and if not I'll keep you posted. Thanks for your support everybody, I hope you're all having an excellent holiday season!

Did you post the paper? Would love to see it as I live it every day from the academic, administrative and clinical aspect.

Thank you for your interest, certainly the question of what health systems countries should use is an important and lively one. After reviewing my paper, I decided I needed to do some editing before posting it in the Academy. Unfortunately, life, as it is wont to do, got in the way of that. If all goes well, my present workload should become more subdued in about a week, and maybe afterwards I will have the time to edit and post the paper.
