Hello! ;D
I thought it might be nice to have a thread to talk about our current projects and maybe get advice. ;D It should be good fun.

I'll start: I was working on this fun idea I had for some Christmas gifts today, and it was a complete disaster! I bought a couple of small glass jars, then filled them with a shallow layer of epoxy resin with the intent of suspending some small figures in them. Alas, the figures sank. I had to go to work, so there was not much I could do. I dread discovering the mess that surely awaits me when I get home. I think my mom took them out for me, but they were covered in viscous resin and the jar's opening is pretty small. I still need to put on another layer of resin, too. I think I'm going to glue down the figures, let the glue dry, then try another layer of resin. Hopefully the disaster can be salvaged. The jars are supposed to look like an underwater scene. The figures are a silly looking fish and a cute sea turtle.

I've seen those before. They look good. Remember, fish swim upside down and sideways sometimes, so you're only adding to the realism! And perhaps, if you have more time, letting the resin in the bottom harden to the point where it's like a jelly then put the fish in and fill it up might work.
I have an idea for a few comedic short series type films for the YouTube type audience. One is aimed towards gamers, the DnD / WoW kind of people. The main setback is camera and sound equipment, seconded by location and costume / prop. This new one I've come up with I hope is more funny than offensive, will reach a wider audience and we could do on a budget nearly a million times cheaper than the gamer one.
For Uantir I'm currently working on improving our graphics. A friend of mine from work's mother is a graphic artist. I'm trying to see if I can get her to help us out at a reduced rate so that we could get decent graphics. The ones I can come up with are, as we have seen, very simple, childish and...well, pixelated. If I can improve our graphics to look less ameture there's a bunch of other projects I've got planned. Unfortunately they are contingent on a more professional look to our visual interface.

Heh...my mom said the fish was on it's side when she got to him. XD I cut off some of the excess resin, which was pretty soft. I then glued the fish and turtle down to the resin, but I was too impatient to let the glue dry all the way. >_> It was late and I just wanted to get it done. I mixed up more resin and poured it on top, then let it harden overnight. They turned out alright. Not quite how I envisioned them, but I was able to transport them to the intended recipients (who liked them pretty well). ;D
Comedic shorts are always fun! My friend and I put together a stop-action short for her film class involving the dolls I collect, which was interesting... XD I really want to redo it, but I don't have the software necessary.
Might I suggest a change in the color scheme to make our page more easily readable? Green on red is hard to see. =/

Valid point. Though I am not the most visually capable man to grace the face of the earth I remember spending quite some time playing with colors and settling on the green for a reason. I think it has to do with the color showing up both on the white and the gray. I think the red is almost harder to see than the green, at least on the black.
My main goal was to retain the three colors of Uantir. But, I am not adverse to a different color scheme entirely as long as the Uantir colors exist if in part as accent.
I ask you, what do you suggest?

I tried to make as many of my Christmas presents as I could this year, though I did buy my nieces a bunch of things as well just since they're cute and kids have to get lots of presents for Christmas. I made my nieces bags and hats, I made my friend Rachael a squid purse (crocheted) I made my friend Sara a crocheted sheep, and I gave away several pomegranate seedlings.
I'm also working on compiling a songbook of folk songs for my own use. I hope to create a biweekly event which I intend to call the Folk music Forum, which will be an event for folk music enthusiasts to come share songs and perform them, and just generally jam and socialize.
I also just ordered a bunch of seeds for my garden, which isn't a craft really, I guess, but it's definitely one of my projects. I'm going to be growing indian painted corn, fairytale pumpkins, beans of a few varieties, birdhouse gourds, and loofahs. And, when the time comes, Strawberries.

Well I have just started weaving chain mail again. It will be months before anything happens, I will be spending the next few weeks preparing the links, but I expect something awesome to happen.
When I went to the store they only had black re bar wire. It was the only 16 gauge wire there. So, as pretentious as I find black chain mail, Whatever I make for now will be made from black links. My first project will be a pair of half gauntlets. It's a co-project with Her Majesty, for she'll be crocheting the glove that I mount the mail on.

Weaving chainmail sounds very cool. I've never tried to do anything with chainmail, though I have always kind of wanted to learn.
I also tried to make some of the gifts I gave out this year, but I spent way too much money on Christmas this year... One of these days my mom and I are going to sit down and she's going to help me crochet some dish clothes! XD
It sounds like your garden will be very nice. ;D I unfortunately have a black thumb, and cannot keep a plant alive to save my life.

My current projects involve travelling.
In May i'm going to be in the US - coming in through LA, heading to Atlanta, staying there 2 days, then spending 3, maybe 4 at Anaheim (Disneyland). Any tips to get me through it alive will be appreciated, also i'll have a lot of free time, so if anyone wants to meet up, let me know!

Well our home is a twenty minute drive from Disneyland. If you'd like to defer the costs of a hotel bill you are welcome at our place.

*burst into tears* You guys are just awesome. That would be wonderful. It'll save me about $500 in accommodation and thats in US $$, not Australian. Is there any public transport or something like that that runs from near your house?

We have cars. What's the point of having friends over from Australia if you don't get to hang out with them? When you know the official dates we'll get them off work and wherever you want to go we'll drive.

Excuse me while I go cry some more. (I get very overwhelmed easily)
You have a very valid point there. The Nightwish concert is on the 14th of May, in Atlanta, but i plan on getting there on the 13th. On the 15th, i'll be back in California, For disneyland. probably leaving on the 19th... but how big is Disneyland anyway?

Disneyland is about 85 acres of public access entertainment.
It is big enough that you should try an go more than once and take it in doses if you want to see absolutely everything. You can hit the highlights in a day though, if you get there at opening and bring your stims to keep you going until dusk.
Nessa, Gelare:
Do come! That would be fantastic if the entire country were able to meet, or at least most got to meet the rest.
