A duel is a pre-arranged contest between two men to settle an argument or dispute between two citizens, in retribution for an insult or to defend the honour of a woman.
Argument or Dispute: If there is a dispute or argument that cannot be resolved, and comes to a head, the matter may be settled with a duel. The winner will be considered to have 'won' the argument or dispute.
Insult: If one feels that their honour has been so scathed by the remark or action of the other, than the insulted my challenge the insulter to a duel. If the duel is won, the insult stands as valid, if lost than the insulted retains his honour.
Upholding Honour: If the honour of a lady is in anyway compromised any man of honour may take up the accuser or assaulter (in addition to other punishments administered by Crown Law) to a duel. In this instance, a man may find himself with a series of duels to fight.
